Grilled Cheese?? Yes please!
What can I say to a grilled cheese festival in LA? Only one thing, YES! So when I heard about the Grilled Cheese Invitational happening downtown, I rounded up some cheese loving friends and headed over. This was a cooking competition as well as a food truck fest, there were people cooking up grilled cheese surprises for judges as my friends were about to eat our way to cheesy heaven. By the time I found out and got my tickets, there was not an opportunity to become a judge, so we relegated ourselves to the peoples choice award (more on that later).

One of the things that I love about LA is the beautiful weather, and I don’t think that I am alone on this, and I have always been a fan of considering Sunday as a day of rest. Lately, I have discovered the wonderful world of Sunday brunch. Its a special meal that combines many of things that I love on the weekends: sleeping late, eating, friends, being outdoors, and having a drink without guilt of anyone telling you shouldn’t be drinking before noon. I remember that I got yelled at once for drinking a beer at 11am at my parents house when I was in my 20′s. I didn’t hear the end of that for a while, actually, they still bring it up. So I hope that my parents read this. Anyway, but I think one of the deciding factors is being outdoors. I don’t know what it is, but it definitely changed the feel of the meal for me. Anything other way.. is just lunch.

I am a professional photographer in the Los angeles area that loves food. And what better way to get my fix and combine my interests than to take pictures of my food. Weekend Foodie was born from the notion that I couldn’t be a full time food critic, so when I get a chance to grab a good meal and some great company, I grab a camera and head on out. I have always found that the best recommendations for food comes from friends, and I try to write my stories like I am talking to my friends because ultimately, I would like my readers to have a just as great of a food experience that I would be having.
It’s not just about food, wine, etc, its about the experience that you have with family, friends old and new, and or even on your own.
