Full Disclosure: These are friends of mine whom I have known for a long time and I had the opportunity to take photos for their menu and advertisement, so I won’t be using a lot of superlatives or exaggerations.
Kitchen Faire is one of those places that every downtown needs; a fast, healthy, fresh sandwich shop for a busy environment. Its a no nonsense kind of place that gives the consumer what they want out of a quick lunch, to get in and out.
But there is more to this restaurant than just a quick pace, they scour the local farmers markets for the freshest in season ingredients and taylor their menu accordingly. When I recently had the opportunity to take some of their photos, their menu consisted of multiple tuna sandwiches, an edamame hummus, a pulled pork, and caprese sandwich using heirloom tomatoes along with many freshly made sides, and bottled and fresh mixed drinks.
There are a couple things I like about this place:
1. Even if you get a sandwich, side, and tea/lemonade (the “faire deal”) it won’t weigh you down like a typical fast food joint, you get just full enough.
2. Its competitive with the pre packaged “gourmet” food places in terms of getting in and out, but its fresh and menu rolls with the season.
3. And its tasty, simple, and healthy..
If I had a job downtown or I was there for something specific, I would keep Kitchen Faire on my radar at least a couple times a week. Unfortunately, for those of us who have to find random parking in the city, its a little bit out of the way.
If you are in the downtown area and have a chance, check out Kitchen Faire between Olive and Grand on 6th street.. Definitely worth the money.
